About the Obriy simulator

The Obriy UAV mission simulator is a professional tactical training platform for operators, built on real combat experience and designed for training in conditions as close to reality as possible. It is a powerful tool for mission planning and crew coordination, allowing for the practice of strike and reconnaissance tactics without the risk of losing equipment, turning virtual mistakes into a real advantage on the battlefield. 

Real maps and combat condition modeling

Users have access to over 50,000 km² of real frontline areas, recreated from satellite data. The simulator models terrain, communication conditions, the impact of electronic warfare, and other factors that determine the course of a real mission. This allows for training in an environment that closely mirrors actual operations. 

For drone developers, Obriy is a high-precision virtual R&D range that significantly accelerates technology development and validation. SITL support allows for the integration of real controller firmware (Betaflight, ArduPilot) and the testing of experimental navigation algorithms in realistic conditions without the risk of losing prototypes. 

Today, the platform is used by over 50 training centers and more than 150 combat units and educational initiatives. Ukrainian military personnel receive free access to it. 

How the new Obriy Anti-Shahed version works 

The new version of the platform allows for practicing Shahed-type drone interception scenarios and preparing operators to counter such targets. 

Work on this direction began in the summer of 2024. Throughout 2025, the version was gradually scaled across small air defense units, where it was used to practice interception scenarios and prepare operators to deal with aerial threats.

Full cycle of small-scale air defense operations

The new version of the simulator features a radar module that models radar system performance, accounting for the radio horizon and enabling the detection of aerial targets at distances of up to 25 km. The module generates target tracks on a tactical map and is integrated with radar simulators, replicating the full cycle of small-scale air defense operations — from detection and tracking to the decision to intercept. The system also supports crew interaction training for the operator and navigator. 

Obriy allows for the rapid transfer of new technologies and tactics from the battlefield into simulator training scenarios. As a result, missions within the platform reflect current military tasks and are as close as possible to real-world operational conditions. 

Available UAV and interceptor types

The platform allows for the modeling of a wide range of combat scenarios using various types of unmanned systems. The simulator includes FPV drones, bombers, aircraft for ground target engagement, and interceptor drones, each with its own control and application logic. 

The simulator also features models of modern interceptors used by small air defense units. Specifically, in the Obriy platform, you can train with OCTOPUS and Sting platforms and practice scenarios for their use during the interception of aerial targets. 

Mission scenarios are formed by more than just drone characteristics. Various battlefield elements — infantry, armored vehicles, artillery, and other forces — can be added to the operation model. 

From target interception to infrastructure protection

Obriy Anti-Shahed allows for the creation of a wide range of scenarios and the practice of various tactics for using unmanned systems — from intercepting aerial targets to protecting critical infrastructure or holding a sector. 

After a mission is completed, the simulator displays the results and performance statistics, allowing for an assessment of effectiveness. 

The practical impact of such training is already being confirmed in the units. After two weeks of training on the platform, an operator was able to shoot down a Shahed during their first combat duty. Similar results have been repeated in other units that used the system for preparation.
